Engineering Technician Apprentice.

Metrosol Limited is a small electronics design company with a track record of building world leading metrology instruments including our flagship “microK” product, which was given the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation.
We are looking for an engineering technician apprentice to join our small highly skilled team and predominantly work within our test and calibration area as well as assist with the build and assembly of our world leading instruments.

What will the apprentice be doing?

• You will calibrate and test our metrology instruments documenting all results ensuring all meet our stated specification limits.
• Assist with instrument repairs.
• Assist with the build and assembly of our instruments.
• Gain precision skills working on PCB’s.
• Develop effective interpersonal skills in communicating both technical and non-technical information.
• Make a technical contribution to the manufacture or maintenance of our products.


About you:

You should be organised with the ability to manage your own time and workload. You will have an interest in electronics together with an inquisitive mind to research, investigate and troubleshoot solutions. With good communication skills (written and verbal), you’ll also be adaptable and keen to develop your skills. You will be IT literate and a confident computer operator.

Entry Requirements:

You will have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grades 4-9 (A-C) which should include Mathematics, and English language. Due to the nature of our work, it is preferable you have grade 6 or above in Mathematics and a science/technical subject.

Training to be provided:

Engineering Technician Level 3: Technical Support: Quality Control with Inspecting and Testing Electronic Products unit.

Training with Milton Keynes College.

In the first year you will spend up to 3 days per week at college undertaking your studies and will be work based the rest of the time. In Years 2 & 3 you will spend 1 day at college and 4 days based at work.


Future prospects:

Following completion of your apprenticeship, you will use the skills and knowledge you have acquired to further your career, gain additional technical skills and work on different projects.

Hours per week: 37.5
Working week: Monday to Friday 8.30-5.00pm
Salary: £11,500
Start Date: Early September 2023

Location: Paulerspury, Northamptonshire, England, NN12 6LQ
